Rudolfo Valentino

Did you know...

That Rudolfo Valentino was born Rudolfo D’Antonguolia in 1895 in Castellaneta in southern Italy? He immigrated to the United States in 1913. He was eighteen years old and worked as dishwasher, janitor, and clerk in an Italian grocery, but on Saturday night he was the tango gigolo on all the second avenue cabarets. He started touring the country as a tango dancer, and he was discovered in a bar in Los Angeles, the Alexander Hotel, in 1921. He had the role of tango dancer in a silent movie called, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the rest was history.  He became an overnight movie star; he became an Italian legend!
